WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino announced that the 20th annual “Healthy Living” conference for Spanish-speaking seniors will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6, at White Plains Hospital.

The free event for people 60 and older will take place from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the hospital's Marion W. Fried Auditorium, at Davis Avenue and East Post Road in White Plains.

“Good health leads to a better quality of life in so many ways,” Astorino said. “From higher energy levels to more active lifestyles, healthy living means happy living.”

A bag with information on resources, complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Topics covered at this year’s program will include: how to be pro-active about your mental health; and chronic renal insufficiency condition in the Hispanic population.

Dr. Adolph Soto, a psychiatrist at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Harrison, will speak about how seniors can be pro-active about their mental well-being. Dr. Mauricio Valdés, a nephrologist at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers, will discuss the causes of renal conditions, how this affects the kidneys, and the increased number of Hispanics affected with kidney conditions.
