Born in Bennettsville, S.C., Boyd worked as a home health aide for more than 25 years, both for a nursing agency and independently.
Boyd was a former disciple of both Turner's Faith Temple (Cathedral of Praise) and Messiah Baptist Church.
She is survived by brothers John Wesley and Tom Gillespie of South Carolina and Gene Gillespie of Derby; sisters Willie Mae Wilder of Georgia and Judy Odom of South Carolina; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Boyd was predeceased by her husband, Norman Boyd; sons Willie Lee and Anthony Boyd; and parents Willie and Ethel Hart Gillespie.
Visiting hours will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Morton's Mortuary, 25 Margaret E. Morton Lane, Bridgeport. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Deborah Vereen officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Grove Cemetery in Easton.
