No Power? Here's Where You Can Go in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A total of 10,005 Fairfielders were still powerless as of 1 p.m., according to the latest numbers from United Illuminating. If you’re among the 42 percent of town without electricity, you’re probably looking for somewhere to go to charge up. Here’s a list of places we see with working electricity.

? Almost all of the shops and restaurants along the Post Road are now back open. But if you’re planning to head down there, consider yourself warned. It seems that most Fairfielders have the same idea, so parking and traffic are getting congested.

? The Fairfield Public Library’s main location at 1080 Post Road and the Pequot Library are back up and running Tuesday. Both have electricity and Wi-Fi. The public library is open until 9 p.m., and Pequot is open until 6 p.m. The Fairfield Woods Branch Library, however, is closed again Tuesday because of lack of power.

? If you need to shower, the Fairfield Health Department listed these three options on its Facebook page: Penfield Pavilion on Fairfield Beach Road; Planet Fitness, 111 Black Rock Turnpike; and Wings Over Water, at 2221 Black Rock Turnpike.

? The Westfield Mall in Trumbull received power Tuesday afternoon. The mall said via its Twitter feed that it is back to normal operating hours.

? The Community Theater is back online as well. It has screenings of “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and “X-Men: First Class” at 7 and 9:30 p.m.

? The larger multiplexes, Fairfield Cinemas on Black Rock Turnpike and Showcase Cinemas in Bridgeport, also have power and are open all day. For showtimes, click on the following links: for Fairfield and for Bridgeport.
