Battle Of The Books Tops Upcoming Events At Greenburgh Library

ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- The Greenburgh Public Library has a variety of events this month, for tweens and teens, from a trivia contest to crafting.

Teen Volunteer Orientation -- Friday, July 8, at 3 p.m.

Teens from 12-19 who want to volunteer during Summer 2016 at Greenburgh Public Library are strongly encouraged to attend the orientation session. Topics will include volunteer tasks, requirements, guidelines and more. You can find the volunteer application and volunteer guidelines here.

Anime Movie and Geisha/Samurai Craft -- Monday, July 11, from 3:30-5 p.m.

This event is part of Anime Everyday Week, a week full of fun anime and manga themed events. Middle- and high-school participants can enjoy watching an anime and making a fun craft -- a geisha and samurai out of soda cans. Snacks will also be served. All supplies are included, free. Battle of the Books Team Interest Meeting -- Tuesday, July 12, at 4 p.m.

The library is looking for team members for its Battle of the Books team, who will be entering grades 7-10, love reading, and love trivia and competition. Battle of the Books is a book-based trivia tournament for Westchester youth. Team members will read five pre-selected books over the summer and fall, attend team meetings, and compete in the Westchester Library System Battle of the Books Tournament on Oct. 15.

Magic: The Gathering Meet-Up for Teens -- Tuesday, July 19, from 3-8 p.m.

Teens are come to come learn to play Magic, get tips and tricks from an experienced Westchester instructor, and bring your decks and battle. This group meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month. No registration is required. Call 914-721-8224 for more information.
