WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Misty Copeland will sign copies of “Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina” at Barnes & Noble in White Plains on Saturday.

“Words fail to describe how thrilled we are to welcome Misty Copeland, and how pleased we are to honor someone who is both an accomplished dancer and a cultural ambassador for dance and community,” said Marisol Rivera Thurman, board chairman of the Greenwich Ballet Academy.

On June 30, Copeland became the first African-American woman to be promoted to principal dancer in the American Ballet Theatre's 75-year history.

Copeland made her Broadway debut in "On the Town" and was named one of the "100 Most Influential People in 2015" by Time Magazine. She will also sign copies of her children's book "Firebird."

The signing and Q&A begin at 2 p.m. and will run simultaneously with the Academy's book fair fundraiser.

The Barnes & Noble of White Plains is at 230 Main St.
