Buchwald will host the forum at the White Plains Public Library, located at 100 Martine Ave. The public is invited to participate and light refreshments will be served.
The meeting's goal is facilitating an exchange of ideas and understanding the priorities and concerns of Westchester County's business and nonprofit communities.
It will be an in-depth conversation with experts on how these two types of organizations can work to help each other and what resources are available for their use.
“Nonprofits in Westchester are vital to keeping our local communities and economy strong,” said Assemblyman Buchwald. “With the direct input of small business owners and nonprofit professionals, we can encourage a productive dialogue between these two types of organizations, and work to provide the resources they need to be successful." Guest speakers include Fran Barrett, New York State's interagency coordinator for not-for-profit services; Glenn Shell, vice chairman of SCORE Westchester; and Emily Guthman, director of business operations for Nonprofit Finance Fund. “Whether addressing health, employment, hunger or the arts, our nonprofits provide critical services to Westchester citizens and those in need," said Buchwald. “Tuesday's forum will be an excellent opportunity to learn how we can overcome challenges to both the nonprofit and business communities, and I will continue advocating on their behalf."
