PURCHASE, NY -- The Alzheimer’s Association will hold a Walk to End Alzheimer’s at White Plains High School on Sunday at 9 a.m.

Participants in the walk will raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s brings attention to a public health crisis. This year, Alzheimer’s Association volunteers and friends hope to break the high mark set in 2012 of more than 1000 attendees.

“There has never been a greater need for the citizens of Westchester County, friends and family members to join in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease by participating in Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” Michele Muir, vice president of communications and public policy for the Alzheimer’s Association – Hudson Valley/Rockland/Westchester, N.Y. Chapter  said in a statement. “Funds raised from the Walk provide care and support services open to the tens of thousands in our county who are either living with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, or who are assisting in their care. And Walk funds will advance critically-needed research.”

Participants can learn more about Alzheimer's disease and how to get involved with this cause.

In addition, each walker will also be part of a special tribute to those who have experienced or are experiencing Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s disease is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death and more than 5 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s.
