One is the new Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth, which opened March 12 and offers a large selection of nearly 1,000 brands; the other is the completely renovated, and refurbishment of AMF Bowling Center into Bowlmor Lanes, which opened yesterday.
The two-level 56-lane venue —part posh nightclub, part family-style destination, part food and cocktail haven — is the first-ever Bowlmor Lanes location in Westchester (at 47 Tarrytown Rd.; Saks Off Fifth is at 29 Tarrytown Rd.).
The venue’s lower level features blacklight lanes, a deluxe bar area and an adjacent DJ booth designed to pump out beats well into the evening. Guests will find "Mad Men"-style sofas, Cero coffee tables and a seven-foot-wide gas fireplace perfect for lounging, or watching the action.
Yet another bar—the second of three throughout the venue—greets patrons on the top floor, serving up Bowlmor’s original lineup of signature cocktails like the “Madhattan” and the “Speakeasy Sangria.”
There's also an interactive gaming center featuring air hockey, NBA Hoops, PacMan and Star Wars Battle Pod, complete with a surround-sound dome and 180-degree curved screen.
And forget chicken nuggets: The new facility boasts a top-of-the-line, upgraded and expanded full-service kitchen serving innovative cuisine designed by Executive Chef Ed Porter, winner of Food Network’s Guy’s "Grocery Games." Signature menu items include the five-pound Behemoth burger (made for sharing), the ultimate grilled cheese, dolce pollo barbeque flatbread, and a monster cookie melt.
