Westchester Business Council Commends Bi-Partisan Coalition For Budget

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The Business Council of Westchester commends county lawmakers on passage of a $1.74 billion budget , according to a press release issued by the Council.

The Board of Legislators approved a modified budget that does not raise taxes and protects the fund balance, or “rainy day fund,” the release said.

"The 2014 county budget strikes the right balance for businesses, taxpayers and people who rely on important social services,” Marsha Gordon, president and chief executive officer of the Business Council, said in the release. “By delivering this on-time budget in a bi-partisan way, county leaders are showing that Westchester is indeed open for business."

“This budget agreement should be seen as a positive example that when our elected officials are committed to working in a bi-partisan manner, these types of accomplishments can be achieved,” John Ravitz, executive vice president and chief operating officer of The Business Council, said in the release.

County Executive Astorino now has 10 days to sign or veto the 2014 budget.
