STAMFORD, Conn. – If the current trends hold, producers of bottled water such as Stamford-based Nestlé SA could be in for a substantial windfall as Americans’ preference for soda evaporates, according to The Wall Street Journal.
According to the report, Nestle, a multinational company with its North American headquarters on Long Ridge Road, became the third largest producer of non-alcoholic beverages in the United States last year, propelled by water brands such as Poland Spring and Pure Life, the story said.
If current forecasts are correct, bottled water will outsell soda in the U.S. by 2017, the story said.
