WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – When the Ritz-Carlton Westchester opened in White Plains five years ago Tuesday, it began a business renaissance in the city, Business Council of Westchester President Marsha Gordon said at a cocktail party marking the anniversary.

“It has been the catalyst for economic vitality in White Plains,” Gordon said. “It has resulted in great opportunities to attract a high level of visitors and businesses.”

The Ritz-Carlton has attracted developers to White Plains, Mayor Thomas Roach said. He said he was shocked it has been five years since the hotel and commercial building joined the White Plains skyline.

Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett presented Ritz-Carlton Westchester General Manager Jeffrey Dziak with a proclamation marking the anniversary.

“We are pleased to be celebrating five wonderful years in Westchseter,” Dziak said.

In honor of the fifth anniversary, the Ritz will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of its “Pot of Gold” cupcake from its Cupcakes that Care program to Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.
