WHITE PLAINS, N.Y-- The Food Bank for Westchester, has announced that Christopher and Sean Murphy of Murphy Brothers Contracting in Mamaroneck will co-chair the organization’s 24th annual “An Evening in Good Taste.”
The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, at 1133 Westchester Ave, White Plains.
The annual event will feature 30 local chefs who donate their time, talents and delectable treats, as well as assistance from more than 100 volunteers and attracts 700 guests.
“The Food Bank is thrilled that Christopher and Sean are lending us their time and energy to co-chair ‘An Evening in Good Taste’ for the second year,” said Ellen Lynch, executive director of the Food Bank for Westchester. “They are a dynamic team and dedicated to raising awareness and dollars for this cause.”
Lynch noted that one in five residents of the county is hungry or at-risk of being hungry. One-third of those 200,000 are children.
“As natives of Westchester and long-time members of the business community, we believe in giving back to our neighbors," said Christopher Murphy, president and construction director of Murphy Brothers Contracting.
"We were shocked to find out how widespread hunger has become in Westchester, one of the wealthiest counties in the country. It is an honor to support this effort along with the Food Bank for Westchester knowing that the proceeds will help so many children and families in need.”
Murphy Brothers Contracting, Inc., has worked in collaboration with both Habitat for Humanity and Furniture Sharehouse and gas helped with the massive clean-up in Breezy Point and the Rockaways where homes were devastated by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
“We are very excited to be a part of such a wonderful event for the second year,” said Christopher Murphy.
Tickets are $200 per person and sponsorships are available. For information, call Pat Reino at 914-418-5204 or visitwww.foodbankforwestchester.org.
