Digital Arts Experience Cuts 'Virtual' Ribbon In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Rob Kissner didn't need a pair of scissors to cut the virtual ribbon downloaded to his iPad, which he used to demonstrate the brand of education the Digital Arts Experience (DAE) plans to bring to White Plains.

Kissner, president and CEO of The Digital Arts Expeirence , welcomed about 100 guests at its recent grand opening ceremony held at its new 8,000-square-foot facility on 170 Hamilton Ave.

"Digital media is where the jobs are,” said Lance Strate, professor of communications and media studies and associate chairman for graduate studies at Fordham University, who attended the event.

The DAE offers courses for teens in digital video, digital audio, photography, animation and web design; for adults, it offers photo restoration, website design, e-commerce, and social media marketing. A full course catalog is available on its website .

Summer courses began in July, and 15-week after-school sessions will be held during fall and spring. Registration is now open for fall 2012, and programs for adults are open-ended.

Also in attendance were members of the White Plains Performing Arts Center and the Westchester Music Conservatory, both of which the DAE plans to collaborate with, Kissner said.

"We incorporated the word 'experience' into our name because we feel that the best way to learn is through hands-on experience and collaboration," explained Kissner. "Our courses are designed to provide opportunities for social and creative progression within an inclusive, non-competitive setting."
