The new legislation takes affect Oct. 1 when businesses enroll in the New York Health Benefit Exchange. In conjunction with the Westchester Library System, the following venues have been scheduled:

•  June 4 – 12-1:15 p.m., Mount Vernon Public Library, 28 S. 1st Ave. • June 18 – 12-1:15 p.m., The Warner Library - 121 North Broadway, Tarrytown • June 19 – 12-1:15 p.m., Mamaroneck Public Library, 136 Prospect Ave. •  June 25 – 12-1:15 p.m., Mount Vernon Public Library, 28 S. 1st Ave.

The new legislation will affect every business from the self-employed to the large corporations that employ thousands across Westchester County.

Participants can ask questions and get information that will help them make key business decisions for the coming year. Some are trying to determine how many people they can afford to hire while covering their health insurance benefits, and others might be eligible for a tax credit that can be claimed retroactively going back to 2010. The Business Council of Westchester will also make presentations directly to local businesses upon request.

“New York businesses are running out of time with the enrollment period just a few months away,” said Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the BCW. “We want to do everything we can to inform the business community about their options, and having the Westchester Library System (WLS) involved helps us to get the word out.”

A special e-hotline has been setup to address ACA-related questions as well. Businesses can e-mail the BCW at healthcare@westchesterny.org with a question and receive a detailed response about the federal program.
