Apple's plan is to offer roughly 25 different television channels for around $30 a month. This platform would be a departure from the more traditional internet-based services offered by Amazon.com, Microsoft and Google who offer mostly content that has been previously aired, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The company's primary advantage over other platforms like Google is that it can earn more back on investments via the sale of iPhones, iPads and Macs. Google earns comparatively little when customers purchase Android devices because the software is free to device makers, The Wall Street Journal said.
