One of the five stores, in Mount Kisco received a bid from another potential buyer that was higher than what Stop & Shop offered, so A&P will auction that location separately, the story said. The Mount Kisco store is A&P's most lucrative nationally, the report said.

The other stores -- in Yonkers, Millwood, Bedford and Croton-on-Hudson -- initially were scheduled to be purchased by Acme Markets, but that company has chosen to pull those locations from its list of purchases, the story said. Those sites also are expected to be auctioned, the story said.
