There's a house on Orchard St in Peekskill that's pretty decked out, too. Sometimes you'll see a mysterious dogcat roaming nearby. He's a friendly fellow but clearly from another world. The greatest danger in the area is getting egged. A friend of mine was visiting from Pennsylvania and some hoodlums egged his car at the intersection of Orchard and Highland. He was pretty peeved at this good old-fashioned Peekskill welcome but soon relaxed with some breadballs at the Roach.
NY TIMES ENDORSES CUOMO
"Mr. Cuomo’s Republican opponent, Mr. Astorino, has not shown that he is ready to take over such a large and diverse state. He was re-elected in 2013 to a second term as executive of Westchester County, a relatively wealthy swath of suburban New York City. He is against abortion rights, and he has said that he wants to weaken the Cuomo gun-control law. His tax policies would provide even more rewards for the wealthy than Mr. Cuomo’s. His continuing attempts to fight a 2009 court order to end segregation patterns in zoning have resulted in the loss of millions of federal dollars to his community. Mr. Astorino also wants to get rid of the Common Core education standards, a crucial effort to improve academics across the state. That would be another mistake..."
While this article was published as originally submitted, it was eventually edited due to spacing limitations. Out of respect for my abiding by this requirement, I am adding as a comment, the two removed paragraphs:
"Governor Andrew Cuomo was not in attendance. He had been visiting the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico on a campaign tour the day before. A call to his re-election headquarters asking to comment on the Honor Flight was not returned."
"Terrence Murphy, candidate for the 40th District of the State Senate also took part in the Honor Flight. He volunteered as a guardian to escort the Veterans during their daylong visit to Washington."
In regard to my fact checking which included contacting Mr. Cuomo's campaign office, I also contacted the campaign office of Justin Wagner, running for the 40th District of the State Senate. It should also be noted Mr. Wagner was unable to attend. According to his election staff, he was taking part at a campaign rally in Mount Kisco Saturday morning.
