Actually, they WERE wrong, and admitted as much. I, for one, am thrilled. Yes, it was very stressful, but I much prefer digging out a few inches vs a couple of feet. Better safe than sorry, yes, but there were things that could have been done differently. Closing the roads down was understandable, but there was also no time forecasted (that I know of) for their re-opening. I think that the politicians did what they had to, based upon the forecasts. It could have been crippling and much more dangerous. We should be grateful instead of complaining. Many others were not that lucky.
They weren't wrong -- but obviously people today feel the need to overreact to everything, which many did before this storm hit, certainly again during it and now after. Had nothing more than a trace to a couple of inches fallen from PA all the way up to Boston... then, they certainly would owe an explanation. No one on Long Island claimed these guys were wrong. But who was responsible for locking down the entire region? Even that overreaction through political showmanship -- was not at the request of a weatherman.
